Itinerary and highlights
Start early in the morning from Nashville, heading southeast towards Lookout Mountain, near Chattanooga. The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
Arrive at Ruby Falls, located inside Lookout Mountain. Take a guided tour through stunning underground caverns to see the spectacular Ruby Falls, a 145-foot underground waterfall.
After exploring Ruby Falls, drive into Chattanooga for lunch. Consider dining at a local restaurant downtown or near the riverfront.

Visit the Chattanooga Choo Choo, a historic hotel and entertainment complex. Explore the lobby area and see the famous Victorian train station. You can also visit the exhibits and shops within the complex.
Ride the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, the world's steepest passenger railway. Enjoy breathtaking views as you ascend the mountain to the top station.
Visit Point Park, part of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Explore the park's trails, monuments, and overlooks with panoramic views of Chattanooga and the Tennessee River Valley.
Drive back to Nashville in the evening, enjoying scenic views along the way and reflecting on your day trip to Lookout Mountain.
